Professional painting services aren’t always the most economical choice for minor painting jobs. No matter how much money you spend, there is no guarantee that your project will come out the way you want. Experts probably won’t be as attentive to details as you would be if you painted your house. So, is it a wise idea to do the painting by yourself?

Absolutely. If you have the right tools, painting from furniture and cabinets to walls and ceilings isn’t difficult. You can complete the task quickly and effortlessly with the best Wagner paint sprayer in hand. Therefore, it is pointless to hire painters when you can do it yourself.

Luckily, I have compiled Best Wagner paint sprayers reviews to assist in your search for the ideal paint sprayer, as well as what makes each model so special and unique.

9 Best Wagner Paint Sprayer Reviews

Wagner has been known worldwide for its high-tech manufacturing and reliable worldwide services for many years. Wagner sprayers can handle both large and small jobs. Moreover, they offer paint sprayers based on any technology such as Airless, HVLP, and Air sprayers.

1. Wagner 0518080 HVLP Stain and Paint Sprayer

Wagner 0518080 Stain and Paint Sprayer-Best Wagner HVLP Sprayer

Wagner 0518080 HVLP Sprayer could be a good choice if you’re looking for an easy paint sprayer. This sprayer has an advantage over brushes and rollers because of the variety of spray patterns available.

Control Spray Max 0518080 allows spraying to be controlled by selecting the position of the spray nozzle. You can choose one of three spray patterns:

  • An oval spray pattern that is good for central coverage.
  • A slim oval pattern for better control.
  • Circular pattern for corners and finishing touches.

When I was working on my previous projects, I used different models of the Control Spray Series. In terms of weight and functionality, the Control Painter and the Control Spray Max differ significantly when compared.

The Control Painter weighs approximately 4.3 pounds and is designed to be handheld, providing ease of use and maneuverability during my painting tasks. On the other hand, the Control Spray Max is heavier, weighing around 5.1 kilograms. This may require more effort when using it for an extended period. It is equipped with a stationary base connected to the spray gun and reduces hand fatigue.

The Control spray max paint sprayer has a simple setup to operate with clear instructions. With its Lock N Go system, you can easily change liquids very quickly, so you can start painting almost immediately after having the device ready.

Wagner HVLP sprayer is perfect for beginners since this Wagner model is very easy to use, compact, and intended for occasional use at home.

The other advantage of using Wagner paint spray gun is that it has a 20-foot hose, so you can spray a long distance from the base unit at a time.

Clean a Wagner spray gun in less time

In addition, a long main cable is used to connect the base unit to the power, so you can move in that area as well.

The Wagner HVLP paint sprayer also allows you to pick your preferred air pressure so that you can apply thick or thin paints accordingly.

Can you believe it? I painted 4 wooden chairs in about 1 hour. This paint job required less than 1 quart of paint. I used Benjamin water born premium paint and was pleased with the drying time.

I sprayed vertically, horizontally, and then used the center focused setting to coat the remaining legs. As a result, there was less overspray. Also, its two air filters remove dirt and dust, so you can enjoy a clean spray.

To make it ready for your next project, wash it thoroughly with soapy water to remove any residue after every use. It also contains fewer components, so it takes less time to clean. Furthermore, I suggest you to follow the directions carefully to prevent clogging.

Find out why my Wagner control spray max sprayer is a smart investment in home improvement projects in detail.

Pros
  • Stationary base model
  • Quick and easy cleanup
  • Designed to minimize overspray
  • Easily adjustable settings
  • Even application
  • You can get variable spray patterns
  • Can be used equally effectively with thick or thin paints
  • Simple to operate for beginners
Cons
  • Short power cable
  • A noisy machine
  • Small reservoir

I am sure you will like its features and capabilities. Keep in mind that it is not a commercial paint sprayer, but it is more than sufficient for use around the house and garden.

2. Wagner FLEXiO 890 Stationary HVLP Sprayer

Wagner FLEXiO-890 Stationary HVLP- Best Wagner Paint Sprayer For Latex

If you want Wagner FLEXiO 890 portable painting system for larger projects. Let me tell you the good news. It comes with integrated storage and its X-Boost turbine box which reduces hand fatigue on larger projects. The Flexio 890 fulfills all of these requirements.

Its X-Boost technology is one of the main highlights of this sprayer. The X-Boost system also allows you to choose the amount of air pressure that will be emitted.

Also, the 11.5ft hose provides airflow through the base unit, which allows it to reach even the most awkward spaces in the home, garage, or garden.

This sprayer is fully adjustable and can produce a variety of spray patterns with a smooth finish.

Wagner Flexio 890 has a capacity of 1.5 quarts of paint in the main reservoir, which means it can spray more than 8 gallons per hour, which is more than enough for DIYers.

I can attest to this myself, as I used it couple of months ago to paint my garage door (see the picture below) and did not experience any discomfort or tiredness.

fatigue free spraying with wagner 890

Apart from its effortless installation and user-friendly operation, the Wagner Flexio 890 paint sprayer is accompanied by a set of two nozzles, an air hose, and a storage case to provide maximum convenience and ease of use. Moreover, an unboxing image of the Wagner 890 sprayer is available for reference.

unboxing wagner 890 HVLP

After painting my garage door with the Wagner Flexio 890, I disassembled the spray gun by pressing the Lock-n-Go button and removing the nozzle and other components. Next, I cleaned the spray gun and nozzle thoroughly using warm soapy water and a brush, and then rinsed them off with clean water. Finally, I reassembled the spray gun by following the instructions in the user manual, and it was ready for use again.

I have also worked with Wagner 590 Flexio model which is the previous version of Wagner 890 model. This Wagner 890 has variable speed setting which make it more efficient than 590 model.

3. Wagner Control Pro 130 Power Tank Airless Sprayer

Wagner Control Pro 130 Power Tank Airless-Best Wagner Power Sprayer

If you’re seeking a sprayer that requires zero experience and turns you into a pro right out of the box, this might not be the right choice for you. However, if you’re a homeowner looking for a high-efficiency airless technology for personal use, the Control Pro is highly recommended.

This model appeals to many users because of its ease of setup.

The sprayer is ready to use after it has been taken out of the box since all the components are in the hopper.

This compact design machine uses a hopper to pour paint directly into the tank. Wagner power sprayer using a high-efficiency system to create a professional finish.

This airless sprayer produces 55 percent less overspray than conventional ones.

No priming is required with the gravity-fed system, as it is fast and easy to set up. You can mix paint material in a 1.5-gallon hopper. Whether you choose a matte or glossy finish, the continuous spray pattern leaves a smooth finish with consistent coverage.

Also, stains, varnishes, and even latex paint, can be used during large projects for continuous painting.

There is a 25-foot-long hose attached to the spray gun. This enables easy access to the top floor when working on larger exterior or interior projects. Thus, you will no longer have to struggle up on a ladder and balance a paint container to reach those higher levels.

Wagner contol pro 130 HEA's 515 spray tip
Wagner 130 HEA’s 515 spray tip

The spray tips are another noteworthy feature. HEA’s 515 spray tip is well suited for spraying thicker substances like latex paint. Plus, you can use a smaller 211 HEA spraying tip for thinner stains and varnishes.

You can clean the Wagner airless paint sprayer quickly after completing the project. The hopper needs to be flushed out with fresh water and rinsed, so it’s ready for the next job. In addition, you can store all the supplied accessories inside the hopper when not in use.

In my opinion, if you have a larger project that requires a significant amount of paint, it is advisable to consider purchasing the Control Pro 150 sprayer or 190 sprayers. With a capacity of 5 gallons, it allows you to cover a larger area without the need for frequent refills.

On the other hand, the Control Pro 130 sprayer has a capacity of 1.5 gallons, which might be more suitable for smaller projects or touch-ups. You can read the detail Control Pro 130 Power Tank Paint Sprayer review here. Also, Wagner Control Pro Kit is available for purchase.

Pros
  • Best Wagner sprayer for walls
  • Storage space
  • Two spray tips
  • You will paint with most paint materials
  • No priming required
  • Quick cleaning
  • The use of high-efficiency airless technology reduces spray overspray by 55 percent
  • Reasonably priced
Cons
  • No pressure dial adjustment
  • It can only hold 1.5 gallons of paint
  • It isn’t easy to refill the hopper every ten minutes when on a ladder
  • A standard inline filter is not included

This Wagner Pro 130 sprayer is an excellent example of why Wagner airless sprayers stand out for efficiency. The Wagner tank paint sprayer also addresses the overspray problem by using airless technology. It is claimed to reduce overspray rates by 50 percent. For that reason, the Wagner control pro 130 would be your best option.

4. Wagner HVLP Studio Plus 0529054 Review

Wagner Home Decor 0529054  Review-Best Wagner Paint Sprayer For Furniture And Cabinets

Wagner Stationary studio plus sprayer is remarkably lightweight. It is about 10% lighter than comparable models.

It is important to note that the Wagner Studio Plus is the updated version of the Wagner Home Decor and offers more advanced features and capabilities.

Wagner Studio Plus Stationary has two advanced nozzles for smooth finishing. Additionally, it comes with a 15 ft. hose, providing flexibility and reach for your painting projects. In contrast, the Studio Home Decor sprayer has a 6 ft. hose, which may be more suitable for smaller or more confined areas.

Just like Wagner Studio Home decor, it can also handle decorative paints and a wider range of materials.

The Studio Plus features a larger paint cup and a more powerful motor, which makes it ideal for larger projects. Its simple design means that the paint cup, sprayer, and hose can be easily cleaned manually without the need for specialized tools or equipment.

You can get a semi-smooth finish by using its control finish nozzle that gives your room a rustic appearance and you may also select the detailed finishing nozzle to achieve your desired smooth finish.

I have noticed that some latex paints needs up to 40% thinning to avoid clogging with studio plus sprayer.

The price of this Wagner spray gun might be high for you, but it reduces your workload considerably.

Pros
  • Recommended for experienced users
  • Compact and lightweight
  • Two nozzles included
  • You will like the super easy cleanup
  • Turbine base
  • Ideal for refinishing furniture and cabinets, decor, crafts and more
  • The air hose provides a working area of 30 feet
  • Suitable for many finishing applications
  • Customizable settings
  • You can paint with decorative paints such as chalk, milk paints
Cons
  • It takes some time to adjust to the controls

5. Wagner Spray tech 0529011 FLEXiO 570 Handheld

Wagner 570 sprayer is a smart choice for those who want 50 percent quieter model than standard HVLP sprayers.

Wagner Spray tech 0529011 FLEXiO 570 Handheld-Best Wagner Paint Sprayer For Fences

An appealing feature of the FLEXiO 570 is that it can paint eight times faster than a hand brush.

This machine is suitable for medium to large painting projects which means you can paint trim, ceilings, interior and exterior walls, fences, and decking with one device.

Similar to Wagner 590 model, this handheld sprayer FLEXiO 570 includes an X-Boost system to increase spray delivery speed. As a result, it reduces an operator’s working time and enables the machine to spray undiluted mediums.

Both Wagner 570 and Wagner 590 sprayers come with the iSpray nozzle. In contrast, the Flexio 590 goes a step further by including the Detail Finish Nozzle, which allows for more precise and detailed painting. Additionally, the Flexio 590 also comes with a storage case, providing a convenient way to store and transport the sprayer and its accessories.

You can customize how much paint is sprayed by adjusting the material control dial. At the same time, the iSpray head allows you to select from three spray patterns and adjust the diameter of the jet.

The Wagner 570 has two speed settings which is less than other upgraded Flexio models. This means you can turn up the high power when working with thicker materials and switch to low power for thinner paints. This is a great advantage when you want to complete your painting project efficiently without compromising the quality of the finish.

Also, for cleaning and color alterations, the gun is equipped with Lock-n-go technology.

Pros
  • Good for fences
  • You can work with thick mediums as well
  • You will get one spray nozzle
  • Easy to clean
  • Adjustable flow setting
  • Three spraying pattern
  • Low-noise operation
Cons
  • Not suitable for textured paints
  • Too much overspray.

The Wagner 570 is a reliable and versatile unit that is suitable for rapid coverage and will please even the most demanding home DIYers. So, if you have multiple small to medium painting projects to accomplish in a limited amount of time, then the Wagner FLEXiO 570 is the good choice to consider for both indoors and outdoors paint jobs.

Why I prefer Wagner 890 HVLP Over Wagner 570 handheld HVLP?

As someone who has used both the Wagner 570 and Wagner 890 sprayers, I’ve noticed some differences that are worth considering. Here’s my personal take on the matter:

Firstly, the Wagner 570 is a handheld sprayer, which makes it more portable and convenient to use in hard-to-reach areas. However, I found that using it for extended periods can be tiring and uncomfortable on the hands, especially when using thicker materials.

On the other hand, the Wagner 890 is a stationary sprayer, meaning that it has a base that stays in one place while you use the spray gun. This design makes it much easier to use for longer periods, as you don’t have to hold the weight of the sprayer in your hands. Additionally, the variable settings on the Wagner 890 allow for more precise control of the spray pattern and flow rate, making it ideal for more complex painting projects.

Another factor to consider is storage and transportation. While the Wagner 570 does not come with a storage case, the Wagner 890 has an integrated storage case that makes it easier to move around and store when not in use. Here you can see that in the image below;

Wagner 890 integrated box for storage parts

In terms of speed, I prefer the Wagner 890 sprayer over the Wagner 570 because it is much faster. In fact, the Wagner 890 is 12 times faster than using a brush, while the Wagner 570 is only 8 times faster. This means that the Wagner 890 can complete painting projects much more quickly and efficiently, saving you valuable time and effort.

Finally, you will be glad to know that both sprayers can cover an 8’ x 10’ surface in just 5 minutes, making them highly efficient for completing painting projects quickly.

Overall, my preference is for the Wagner 890 due to its variable settings, fast speed, stationary base, and convenient storage case. However, the handheld design of the Wagner 570 may be more suitable for some smaller or more intricate painting projects.

After painted with Wagner Control Pro 190

What makes Control 190 better than Control 130?

In my experience using both the Wagner Control 190 and Control 130 sprayers, I have noticed some distinct differences that make me prefer the Control 190 model. It is the latest spraying HEA model of Control series.

Firstly, the Control 190 has a maximum tip size of 519, while the Control 130 has a maximum tip size of 515. This may seem like a minor difference, but it can actually make a significant impact on the quality and speed of your painting job.

Additionally, the Control 190 has a higher gallon per minute rate at 0.40, while the Control 130 has a rate of 0.24 gallons/min. This means that the Control 190 can cover more area in less time, which is a big advantage when you’re working on a large project. ( I noticed it while painting walls and ceilings)

Another factor that sets the Control 190 apart is its maximum hose length of 100 feet, compared to the Control 130’s which has its half 50 feet. This gives you more flexibility in your work and allows you to move around more freely without having to constantly move the unit.

Furthermore, the Control 190 has a higher horsepower rating of 0.7, while the Control 130 has a rating of 0.375. This means that the Control 190 has more power and can handle thicker paints with ease.

Lastly, while the Control 130 has a tank volume of 1.5 gallons, the Control 190 has the capacity to spray up to 500 gallons per year. This makes the Control 190 a better choice for those who are looking for a sprayer that can handle larger projects.

In a nutshell, both the Wagner Control Pro 190 and Control Pro130 are great sprayers, the Control 190’s higher capacity, power, and flexibility make it my preferred choice for large painting projects.

7. Wagner 0529031 Black MotoCoat for Car & Trucks

Wagner 0529031 Black MotoCoat- Best Wagner paint sprayer for Car & Trucks

Wagner’s MotoCoat HVLP sprayer is the perfect choice for DIY enthusiasts seeking an exceptional sprayer. It excels in applying low flash-point coatings, including Plasti Dip and various protective coatings.

If you’re interested in achieving professional-quality results with such coatings, the MotoCoat HVLP sprayer from Wagner is the ultimate tool for your projects.

With the X-Boost Turbine, you can adjust the material flow, spray pattern direction, and width to ensure precise spraying of the vehicle surface, just like in other Wagner HVLP models.

It is portable because it does not require an air compressor, so you can move around without being restricted. Within its price range, the X-Boost turbine produces almost three times more power than other sprayers.

You will get a complete set of nozzles and cup attachments. You can use it to spray latex paint, textured coatings, rubberized coating, and protection on cars, etc., with the iSpray nozzle.

using wagner motocoat on rubberized coating

In addition, a detail finish nozzle is included for spraying thin materials and providing an even coverage and smooth finish.

This sprayer comes with a 39-foot long hose, which is impressive since other sprayers have shorter hoses. This hose is very flexible because it’s serrated, which means that each section works independently, giving it more flexibility.

Your device must always be turned off before you clean it.

I like the product’s less maintenance requirements, which is one of its most amazing features. You only need a clean rag and water. When your project is complete, simply wash the container with clean water.

Follow these steps to clean the nozzle:

*When you have washed the paint reservoir, fill it with clean water.
*Connect the device to the paint container.
*For a few seconds, pull the trigger and hold it.
*Remove the cup and blow air through the nozzle to remove any remaining water.
*A rag and warm water can be used to clean the paint on the casing.
*Avoid spilling water on the casing because it might damage the electronics inside.

Pros
  • Easy clean up
  • Powerful X-Boost turbine
  • Different cup attachments are available
  • It produces detailing and textured coats
  • A 39-foot hose that fits any vehicle
  • You can spray different types of material
  • Spraying Plasti Dip is possible
  • 1 year warranty
Cons
  • Container of small size
  • Some users complain about paint clogging

A simple principle and ease of use make it a great choice. However, you should read the manual before using this unit. As a result, unpleasant situations and surprises can be avoided.

They’re a DIYer’s dream. From the Control Series, perfect for precision with stains and paints, to the FLEXiO Series, a speed demon that sprays right from the can – Wagner has options for every project. Even the Control Pro Series, with up to 55% less overspray, gives me the control I need for a pro finish.

Plus, the softer spray ensures better control and less mess. If you’re considering a sprayer, Wagner’s got the range and innovation to match your needs.

Factors for Choosing the Best Wagner Sprayer

It is essential to do thorough research and gather knowledge before investing in any device. A lack of sufficient research regarding certain features could cause you to reconsider your investment. Therefore, you should select the Wagner paint spray gun according to the following factors.

Use Of The Product

The company offers a wide range of special products for specific tasks. You should be clear about the purpose of the device before buying it. Choosing the right tool will make it a worthwhile investment.

Design And Size

It is possible to purchase sprayers in various styles and sizes. The size of the unit is extremely important, as it directly impacts how much paint it can hold. If you choose a model that is too small for the task, you will need to refill it after few minutes, which can be quite annoying.

Additionally, you have to consider how the unit was designed to determine whether it is appropriate for you or not.

Integrated Technology

If you are a painting expert, you will be glad to know Wagner uses highly advanced technologies. One can choose from HEA system, low paint levels, HVLP, and more. To learn more about what a product has to offer, you might want to look at its specifications. Finding the right product means utilizing all of its technologies.

Length Of The Power Cable

Most portable units have longer power cords, but it depends on the device weight, as well. In the case of a device with a long power cable but a heavyweight, it may not be easy to move. Therefore, if you need to use a sprayer outside, you must have enough cord to complete the job quickly and easily.

Nozzles And Controls

Spray patterns and paint flow are dependent on nozzle size. Wagner sprayers are equipped with two nozzles for different purposes.

The smaller nozzle would take too long to cover a large area, so you will need a bigger nozzle to cover larger paint jobs. On the other hand, small nozzles work great for fine spraying jobs, such as for painting furniture.

Adjustable controls are another important feature. Changing the spray pattern on some models is possible to achieve the perfect finish.

Customers Reviews

Customer reviews provide you with honest and unbiased information about a Wagner paint sprayer, as they are written by actual users.

The iSpray nozzle is specifically designed for covering larger surfaces, ensuring a smooth and uniform finish on your ceiling.

Can I leave paint in my Wagner sprayer overnight?

It’s perfectly fine to leave paint in a sprayer for the day or overnight if you intend to use it again the next day. But if you’re done spraying, make sure to clean the sprayer well before storing it. This prevents the paint from drying up and causing problems with the sprayer later on. However, if you’ve completed your painting tasks, make sure to clean the sprayer thoroughly and prepare it for storage. This helps maintain the sprayer’s functionality and ensures it’s ready for your next use.
